Biography
British baritone Tim Alexander is established in a broad operatic repertoire, with particular distinction in Mozart, Puccini and Verdi. Dorset-born, he trained at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he completed both undergraduate and postgraduate study.
He recently sang the title role in Don Giovanni and Guglielmo in Così fan tutte for the Da Ponte Opera Festival in Vittorio Veneto, and Marcello in La Bohème. For Dorset Opera he sang Marullo in Rigoletto and Timour in Massenet’s Le roi de Lahore (UK stage première). He has also appeared as Marchese D’Obigny in La Traviata for Oxford Opera and Yamadori in Madama Butterfly for Grange Park Opera.
In 2024 he created the role of Robert Penny in the world première of Paul Carr’s Under the Greenwood Tree, which was written specifically for him. He made his BBC Proms debut at the Royal Albert Hall as the Second Prisoner in Beethoven’s Fidelio, and regularly sings with the Edvard Grieg Kor in Norway for Bergen Nasjonale Opera.
Later in 2026 he looks forward to singing Escamillo in Carmen for Devon Opera and Conte Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro for the Da Ponte Opera Festival.
